Etude for violin (2004)

IN THE COMPOSER’S OWN WORDS

“In 2004, while living in Budapest, Hungary, I heard a lot of violin playing. They play violin on the street, in bars and restaurants, at home and for concerts, of course. The style of playing is either what would be understood as a gypsy and the other is mostly classical. I was very inspired by this inundation of sound and wrote the Etude for Violin while under its spell.

“Joey Molinaro made an arrangement of the piece, or re-orchestration really, by simply adding foot percussion. ”
